As alway: Great Article, Paul. Is there a solution for the unique name problem with word documents, too? I am managing several sites where we create offers as word documents via the Libraries template function: The user clicks on "new" and is presented a word document with a predefined name. Is there any way to get around that?

When is the next article coming out? I am more interested in how you get the approvals done and more specifically, how you control an approver from approving a leave form not assigned to him.

Thanks for the great articles.

I can not get the form to submit when I give it a concat name. I receive the msg
InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
Details of the error msg are:
A value in the form may be used to specify the file name. If you know the value in the form that specifies the file name, revise it and try again. Otherwise, contact the author of the form template. But when I Verify Formula the message says "The formula does not contain any errors.".
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

Also just in case I did a terrible job of explaining that what I am recommending is similar to what Hannah describes in this post here: http://bytelab.blogspot.com/2008/06/submit-info...

Take care,
Richard Harbridge

Hey Paul,

Great article as always but just thought I would note something. The save button is hidden and it is using a submit rule that specifies the filename with a today value. This is great for initial submission. But in reality the approver or manager may modify the form details (or maybe the initial requestor will when the approvers ask them to).

Unless I am mistaken the way you set up the filename part here will create a NEW entry each time the form is submitted rather than overwrite the existing entry.

There is a simple workaround for this which just basically has you save the filename to a field in the form, and then use that field to save the form (you have a rule on submit that saves the name if it's being submitted for the first time (if filename field is blank) otherwise it just submits using the already set filename field. :)

Hope this helps yourself and any people reading this article,
Richard Harbridge
