Hi Randy,
Very useful articles. I have one problem however with relating the BDC web parts. Everything works fine but I can not select in my list web part. The selection readio buttons show up and everything but when I click to select anything the page reloads with nothing selected. This happens even when I use the AdventureWorks sample ADF files. I have setup the user permissions on the application and each entity with full permissions just to make sure.
I would appreciate any help or suggestion you can give me.
Thanks.

Randy, thanks for this series of articles; I could not have gotten as far as I have without them in trying to consume an external web service in a business data column. However, I have still not been able to figure out how to pass two parameters to the service. You explain how to do a 1:1 mapping, but my situation is a bit more complex than that. In the browse dialog box, my Find drop down list has two items I need to associate a value with. I can't find anyway to do that. If you are able to advise, I would be grateful.

Hi Randy
Hope you can help us out here:
I have a BDC Related List (Machines) web part which is connected to a BDC list webpart (Customers). When I select a Customer and then a machine, the Data Item Webparts on the page show the Details (Customer details, Machine Details) of the entry.
But then, if I search again for a new customer and select it, the Machine Detail Webpart still shows the "old" information of the previously selected entry.
So is there any way to reset for example alle the "Data Item"-Webparts on a page? Or could we send a default Parameter to alle tehe webparts on a page on postback (clicking on the Searchbutton...)?
We are going mad here with this Problem, as it is making our whole application kind of useless..

Yes, I agree with your words Randy. I strongly believe that the data lists are useful for telephone marketing and email marketing where we can sort and filter the content that a user needs... what do you say Randy. I appreciate that this post really useful for web data users to work on these business data lists to update their actions and events. Many thanks.

Use a version number and make sure you change it each time you make changes to the ADF file and it will overright the existing BDC when you import it:

<LobSystem
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns:schemaLocation="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2006/03/BusinessDataCatalog BDCMetadata.XSD"
Type="Database"
Version="1.0.0.1"
Name="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2006/03/BusinessDataCatalog">

I'd like to create a url from a business data list to open a custom aspx page. I need to add the "current user" to the querystring. Is this possible?

Thanks.
